Ocean Kayak Prowler 13 Hot

I got this boat at Bass Pro Shops, it is essentially a Prowler 13 with some different attachments.

The first time I took this boat out, it had a large leak, forcing me to put ashore to deal with it. Luckily I thought to carry some marine sealant with me, so I made it home. The leak seemed to be centered around the dry hatch, so I sealed it up. Even after sealing, the dry hatch fills with water. Subsequent trips have the boat taking on about a gallon in 6 hours. Not what I call acceptable in a boat that size. I emailed OK about the problem, with no response.

Other that that, when the boat is dry, it tracks very well and is very comfortable with the high-back seat. It is also fairly quick for a SOT design. There is plenty of room in the front hatch for your gear, just don't put anything in there that can't get wet. And don't forget to bring marine sealant with you.

I look into my back yard and see 4 kayaks but I find that the Prowler 13 has become my goto kayak becasue it does it all so well and is light and easy get on top of my Mini van. I have beat the the hell out of it and it justs keeps going. It is a great kayak to launch from the surf and even have done some kayak surfing with it. Got rid of the stock seat it came with and went with a better seat with more padding. All and all I would buy again!

This is my first Kayak. After much research, I have not been disappointed at all. Living 3 blocks from the Ocean, that has been my primary fishing location and I found it to be very easy to handle in the surf. I also chose this kayak due to it being lighter, as I am 5'6" female and over 50 and I can still load it on the X-terra. (hullavator is in the future) A more comfortable seat would be my only suggestion, but there is always gel Pads... I have recommended it to others and they also have been very happy with the purchase. All the accessories were mounted very easily. Overall very pleased.
