Report: Welcome to the Texas mid – coast and corpuschristikayaks.com. Sorry for missing the last few reports, but we have had a fast and furious summer and didn’t make time to write you a report. Fishing has been good on the flats, catching reds lately on gold spoons and trout on paddle tails and gulps. Most of the reds are in sand pockets in 2+ feet of water and trout were caught on the edge of deeper drop offs. There are lots of smaller trout to keep you busy, but if you get into small fish after a few move for the bigger fish. Top water lures have been working early and up to mid morning for both reds and trout. The reds will start to school in late September thru November and head to the gulf. If you haven’t seen acres and acres of reds you must do this. If tailing redfish get you excited, bring your heart medicine when you seen this. Fall fishing will be good and so will the winter fishing. Our water will cool off and the weather is wonderful for kayaking. But don’t forget safety as weather cools and wear your pfd, especially if you are wearing waders. Keep your reels clean, hooks sharp, and hope you have a great day. Capt. Mike O’Dell |
