Report: We have been faced with back to back cold fronts almost every week it seems. Despite these conditions we have started to see bass staging and some that have actually fanned out beds. We noted big females moving up on and to spawning areas on some of our warmer days. Baits and techniques that produced the best results were Jigs and Soft Plastics. We caught the most impressive bass on Gary Yamamoto Shad Shaped Worms. Any technique used must be presented slowly as water temps and cold fronts will put these fish down and sluggish in regards to eating. As the weather warms up to the mid to hi 70’s you can expect them to begin to eat heavily in preparing for upcoming spawn. If you can find a few days with a warm trend look for the bass to move up shallow for water that will warm the fastest. If looking for numbers look deep, try to find deeper pockets where water temps are more stable and warmer.
The saltwater in the Cape Coral, Matlacha and Pine island area is doing great! The Trout action is steady now, and wow have they been coming in big lately. The Trout will respond well to fast twitch retrieves with Jig heads in 1/8th and 1/16th weights. Rig these with your favorite soft plastics and start there. We have seen the best bites on a good incoming tide. Snook and Redfish are also showing fairly well now on flats during the warmer days.
We are awaiting some new rods from Lamiglas and will have the skinny on them in next month’s report. They have fishing rods for all species and techniques go to www.lamiglas.com to see them.

We have used AquaSkinz wading belt system for some time now and think it is awesome. We use it to tow our kayak on tether and carry all tackle needed while wading. The belt can be configured any way you like to fit your style of fishing. They have a wonderful selection of pouches that attached to the wading belt. The best part is it is interchangeable; you can switch our pouches for a specific trip or outing. You have to check them out at www.aquaskinz.com. Please take the time to stop by and see our new site as we now offer Gift Certificates for our Trips, Signature kayak Seats, Motor kits, Classes or Club Membership programs. Our charters have seen some great quality fish lately so book now and have the trip of your lifetime. Our Eco Tours are seeing Manatee, Bottlenose Dolfin, Otter, Osprey and Bald Eagles. So Check Us Out!!!  Also the New Signature Kayak Seat from Skwoosh is now available from our site www.kayak-charters.com .
