Guide Report - Rich Jones November 2009 E-mail

We have finally started to move into our normal weather conditions for this time of year, warm days in the eighties and cooler nights. After an abnormally warm September and beginning of October we had our first cold front come through last week. A welcome sign of cooler weather to come. With the warm weather on a lot of recent days the water temperatures were up into the mid nineties along with the air temperatures. Some fish can tolerate these conditions while others become very lethargic. Fish caught in these conditions have to be handled more carefully and getting them back in the water and revived asap before releasing them can be crucial to their survival. Another note when fishing in these conditions is using the right gear, gear heavy enough to be capable of handling the fish as to not extend the fight to long to drive the fish too far into exhaustion.
