Wilderness Systems Launches New Helix MD™ Motor Drive
GREENVILLE, S.C. (April 14, 2016) – Wilderness Systems today announced the hotly anticipated arrival of its plug-and-play Helix MD™ Motor Drive at specialty retailers. Wilderness Systems paired a compact design with Torqeedo technology to create a 16 lbs. drop-in electric motor that is compatible with Wilderness Systems kayak models featuring the Flex Pod OS, and is capable of hitting max speeds of up to 6 mph. The rechargeable lithium battery with integrated GPS is waterproof, buoyant and can provide a range of up to 20 miles, or achieve a runtime of up to 8 hours. Solar charging of the battery is available with an aftermarket panel. The Helix MD experience allows kayakers and anglers to be hands free while being able to go farther, faster. The Helix MD sets itself apart from other kayak motors with its integrative design and user-friendly interface,” said Evan Lyendecker, marketing director for Wilderness Systems. The Helix MD Motor Drive is equipped with an intelligent remote throttle that displays GPS-calculated speed, remaining range and battery runtime. The throttle comes with fully variable forward/reverse functionality and can be set to a desired cruising speed. It’s compatible with the A.T.A.K., Thresher and Tarpon 130X kayaks, and will also be compatible with future Wilderness Systems kayak models featuring the Flex Pod OS. The Helix MD Motor Drive is $1,999 USD.
