Fastfish's Ride

This boat has been maybe the best piece of fishing equipment I've ever gotten more smiles for less dollars spent and it has truly given me a new lease on my fishing outlook.

Best of the Hobie Class

Tried all the Mirage Kayaks and it just seems that the revolution is the best of all worlds, it has speed, stability and is east to load.

Hobie 09 Revolution Review

I bought this kayak last year from the local Hobie dealer. I've had it out on some small lakes, decent sized reservoirs and in saltwater. Overall, a great kayak in terms of stability, speed and versatility. There's been a bunch of times that it's been very windy and rough. Other paddle kayaks were making little headway, while the mirage drive on the Revo sliced through that wind with ease. When I did have some issues with the kayak, Hobie and the dealer got them squared away in record time. I can't say enough about the customer service of both. You have to be a little creative about rigging on the Revo. The side rails are fairly tight, but you can get most of what you need in there (fishfinder, rod holder, etc). I would not hesitate to get another Revo if I had to do it again; great kayak!

Adventure

I use my adventure in the ocean most of the time. It is very stable. I have it rigged for fishing. It is long at 16 feet.

Adventure Equals Deep Water Fishing

The Adventure, and it's other configuartions, is a fast deep water yak.

With the Mirage Drive she handles wind and chop with ease. It's not a
dry ride, but then what yak is in heavy weather.

Initial stability is good, secondary great. At 16 feet one of the longest yaks around. This translates into speed, and ease of effort to keep her moving. Get the large sailing rudder even if you don't sail. It improves handling and reduces your turning radius. Speaking of sailing the add on small sail with Sidekick and ama is a great package. While your speed is considerably less than The Adventure Island it's good enough to give you a boost on long trolling trips, and you can beat to windward if caught out. If you have winds that can surprise you of 20+ knots, you'll want to consider the Adventure Island configuration. Besides handling heavier stuff this baby can get you out to Hawaii FADs,Texas Oil wells, and off shore structure while trolling for large fish like pelagics.

Adventure with my Hobie Adventure

This kayak is a rocket in the water. I use my turbo fins and get up to almost 8 mph. I sometimes paddle it when my knee hurts and it is a great paddling craft. I find it stable but I know some people wnat more kayak width but fine for me at 200 lbs.

A Great Fishing Platform

Have been fly fishing from a Quest for almost 3 years now and in short -- FANTASTIC! When I initially tried the Yak and compared it to others, my first impression was a sports car versus a semi. The kayak paddles easily, gives a dry ride and handles just about any type of water (within reason). My fishing is in Lake Michigan, inland lakes and rivers as well as 3 months in the salt marshes of the SE Atlantic. I am out in the Yak over 50 times a year.

My rigging include a thru hull fish and depth locator, a GPS, anchor trolley, numerous pad eyes for leashes and a Scotty fly rod holder. Have even fashioned a downrigger that fits in the molded rod holder.

While there are other excellent kayaks out there, my experience is you can't go wrong with the Hobie Quest -- in fact we have two as my wife enjoys paddling and the SOT is a lot easier for her than the Sea yaks. We are in our early 60's and loading/unloading is not a problem as the Quest is easy to handle and relatively light.

Pro Angler

More of a small boat than a kayak. It is very stable and I even tried to tip it in shallow water and had a hard time doing it. The only drawback is the price even though it is well worth it and the weight. I am 63 and can handle the weight so I am sure it is not too much for most people. It was $2199 basic and I dropped $2800 getting it rigged the way I wanted. I love it and am very glad I bought it. The paddle which comes standard needs to be replaced as it is too short for the extra width of the Pro Angler. I was surprised at the speed achieved with the mirage system and easily outpace paddlers. I also rigged up a trolling motor mount on the side for those long trips back. With the optional baitwell you can carry a staggering total of 11 fishing rods with nothing in your way. The seat is dry and comfortable and I have fished nonstop for 8 hours in it and felt fine after climbing out. It was bought at KO sailing in Laporte,Tx ...Ask for Melissa..She is great and can answer all quest

Small package but great kayak

I own the Hobie Sport and I got it for one reason, I wanted to be able to load it by myself and shoot a disk across the parking lot. At 5'11 and 200 it works fine for me and maybe it is not as fast as the other Hobie Kayaks it is all about being able to toss it on top or my truck. My buddy has an Hobie Adventure and of course he is faster but not that much. I fish salt and lakes and it has not let me down.
