There are so many people to thank for the support, sponsorship and dedication to making this a good and positive event.  Everyone had a great time!  Fish were caught and everyone won something since the sponsors were so generous with their products.  Twenty four anglers entered.  A lot were from last year.  This sport event is new to KY and the support was awesome.  Yes, next year will be bigger.  First weekend in June since it’s free fishing for non-residents too.  Somerset Pulaski Co Travel Bureau and Burnside City will assist in funding the next event.  There will be more marketing $$ to bring more people to this state and Lake Cumberland as a destination for this sport.  Thank you to CanoeKY and River City and Ben Adrien from Kayak Bass Fishing to teach classes.  The media sponsor shut down the web site Sunday of the awards ceremony, so the new website is www.KYKayakFishsing.com.  I will be posting my thanks and recognitions asap!

reelrecovery-300x122Proceeds went to Reel Recovery.  Thank you for your sponsorship and allowing that Kentucky and Lake Cumberland can support your organization.  Thank you for your sponsorship and I look forward to working with you next year.

Every event has a story….Andrew, 13 years old made his first event.  His dad wanted him to paddle from Fishing Creek to the Venue area.  I believe it is about 20 miles.  Andrew didn’t make back by 4pm.  As we were packing up to leave, I saw him walking back from the venue as everything was taken down.  It was 6pm.  I’m not sure if I saw his tears, but mine welled up.  His mom told him what he did for that tournament.  He said he was so tired.  I called his Mom yesterday and Andrew to tell him that he gets an award and a story in the local paper.  The award comes from Kayak Anglers Pro Shop of $50-, an anchor, a shirt and a ½ day kayak fishing with me either at Fishing Creek or below Wolf Creek Dam (though I can’t promise him a fish).  It’s the thought that counts….
