In Pursuit of Trophy Smallmouth Bass This is a terrific book. The bottom line is if you’re interested in catching smallmouth bass from a kayak, get this book.  It’s loaded with detailed information that’s going to help you catch more smallies, especially big ones.  While I’ve never met Jeff I’ve been aware of his prowess and reputation for years. He was recently featured here in KFM in our Interview section.  To learn more about Jeff, check it out.  Jeff fishes year round and is very much in tune with chasing trophy smallmouth from a kayak.  Jeff has over 50 citation bass to his credit.  He discussed why he uses and kayak and how it helps him catch more fish.

I regularly pursue smallmouths and have certainly caught my share.  However I am far from an expert.  Jeff is and I learned a lot from reading this book which I plan on applying this season on both my local waters places I'll be traveling too.  He discusses his favorite lures and techniques and when to use each.  He's designed some lures too and discusses them.  He delves into the factors of water levels, temperatures and seasons as to how they're going to affect your quarry.  Since his fishing encompasses a broad area that covers a few states the way Jeff plans and excursion is valuable.  You don't want to arrive at the river to find it dangerously hight or unfishable.  He discusses how he uses a variety of Internet tools to ascertain those rivers and watersheads that'll be the best bets.  Only a lot of time on the water and experience gains you this kind of experience.

Even if you don’t fish for smallmouths, Jeff’s approach and the way he goes about pursuing his angling will benefit any angler no matter what species you’re after.  So if you want to read an excellent book you won’t regret picking up a copy.  It's $16.95 plus $4.25 shipping.
