The Fifth Annual Jamaica Bay Kayak Fishing Tournament seen over 200 kayak anglers registered even though poor weather limited the participation to just over 140. The 3 day event in which most participants camped out and fished at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn was a great success even though the cool and damp weather kept the total head count down, the anglers who braved the conditions saw Jamaica Bay fishing at its best with the three prized species of bass, bluefish and weakfish making an appearance. The event is more than a competitive tournament but a gathering of kayak fisherman to share their love of the sport with entries from 11 different states. The event raises money for Casting For Recovery (castingforrecovery.org), an organization that provides fly fishing retreats at locations around the United States. The retreats are specifically designed for women who have or have had breast cancer. Fifth Annual Jamaica Bay Kayak Fishing
