Kayak Fishing Spot X, the Basin |

A quick succesfull trip is a good trip33cm bream, caught on the deadly Squidgy Stealth prawn With fine conditions and calm winds prevailing I decided to leave the housework for another day and go forth kayak fishing in the basin instead. I had tunnel vision for Spot X today and thus didn't even bother trolling on the way there. First cast was hit almost as soon as the 4" Squidgy stealth prawn landed in the water, the taker being a nice size bream of about 33cm. There's dinner right there. 3 casts later I landed another one of similar size, although I decided to put it back because I felt confident I'd catch a few more worth keeping anyway. I did manage 2 more bream today, although both were undersize and were also returned. All but one were taken on the stealth prawn - the other fell for gold coloured SX60 hardbody lure. Also falling for the same solitary stealth prawn were 5 or 6 flatties, one of which was a nice plump 46cm. The next largest was about 40cm and it to was kept for the table. All of the others were closer to the 30cm mark and were all returned to fight another day. All of these fish were caught within 90 minutes, so today's trip was relatively brief. I figured that if I hurried home I'd give myself time to get to some of that housework after all. 46cm Flatty, another victim of the stealth prawn Catches of the day - dinner for tonight and tomorrow |
