Report: August fishing report Bass fishing continues to produce nice fish in all of the northern NJ reservoirs and lakes. Fish are still in the weed beds, fish the edges of deep weeds or weed pockets with a variety of plastic worms. This pattern should continue through the month of August. Try a Carolina rig along the weed edge or out to the deep water with a 24" leader. I just returned from a week long fishing trip on Lake Champlain, NY. all though water clarity has been drastically reduced due to all of the rain fish have acclimated to this change as all of the bass caught in these stained waters have changed to a lighter color. If you haven't tried this body of water you owe it to yourself to give it a shot. Again this time of the year fishing weed beds and edges of weeds. Morning topwater and then switch to plastic baits. Every day was producing nice smallmouth and largemouth bass upwards of 5lbs. You can see a sample of the quality fish we caught by checking out my website. I have a few open dates in August if anyone is interested in trying there hand at kayak fishing for largemouth bass. |
