Report: ALOHA KFM gang... Summer is in full swing and the fishing is really good. After a long spring and a somewhat slow start, things are really on fire now. Last month we saw lots of mahi and ono on the ledge and the conditions have been fair. So far the tuna bite seams to be slower this year than last though I did see some big ones pulled up on the charter boats. However some of the local kayakers have managed a few really nice shibi's. The bottom fishing has shown some action also with some nice uku's coming up and a few giant trevally. This summer the Uyeda brother's broke another kayak record with a GT weighing in, I believe, at 74 pounds. There are good bait balls around with mackerel scad, kawa kawa, and aku; these are the big boy baits. Inshore is now in post spawn and the balls inshore are growing quickly. This means the inshore trevally run will be heating up very soon. So we've got lots of good fishing going down and lots of good fishing on the way. July will feature 4 tournaments in Hawaii and the ongoing state progressive. So what are you waiting for? Get out there and Yak Fish. ALOHA.. Boogie-D
