Report: Greetings from the Redfish Capital of Florida! Jacksonville in November is a transitional time with the redfish habitat. The cooler temperatures now in the lower 60s have put the redfish into different behavior and feeding pattern. They have begun to school up in large number and become more active in the afternoon. In addition to the changing conditions the waters have cleared up due to the micro algae dissipation. The early part of the month proved to have inconsistent weather with cold fronts putting the redfish temporally on hold but the spotted sea trout fishing bit was on. The second half of the month was mild with warmer days in the 70s putting the redfish into an active hungry mood. Stealth was the name of the game now that the water is clear. Spooking them was easy. The primary during November in the back country creeks that the redfish are feeding on is small shrimp. Light colored tan fly pattern work best for the shallow mud flats and black clouser type flies during the colder days in deeper water on the bottom. Overall it was a productive month of catching fish when the weather allowed.
