I just finished Jeff’s DVD entitled ‘River Kayak Fishing Skills’. Just like his book it’s filled with a lot of good information that kayak anglers fishing moving water will find very beneficial. I liked it a lot. Jeff has a lot of good information to share and each format (print and video) have their place. Each of us learns things in a different way. Some people get more out of reading while others do better doing so visually. The DVD covers a lot of material. Things like choosing a kayak for river fishing, safety, float plans, paddle strokes and skills required to safely and effectively navigate rivers, lures, habitat, etc. If you fish or plan on fishing rivers it should be a welcome addition to your kayak fishing resources collection. http://www.blueridgekayakfishing.com/

Bending Branches Navigator Wood Paddle

Bending Branches Navigator Wood Paddle
First I should say I am not a big believer that there is a real need to spend so much on a paddle, a $300 paddle is just going to be a couple ounces lighter than a $150 paddle and I still think for most people who are kayak fishing the $100 to $150 is a good range and will get you enough...

Glacier Glove, Not Just Gloves

Chris Parson Glacier Glove Review

I’ve had a chance to test some of Glacier Gloves (G.G.) newer products against the raw Cape May, NJ weather in December. G.G. has been churning out some great products. When out in the cold, wet environment, and away from the warm comforts of shelter, G.G. will...

Icom IC-M34 VHF Waterproof Marine Radio
I got a chance to try ICOM's new waterproof M-34 floating marine radio and use it on a trip to Montauk where many of us communicated on the water throughout the day. The first thing I noticed was how clear and crisp the the sound was. The controls where very easy to use, I did have to get use to...

Precision Pak Dry Back Pack

This is an item most kayak fisherman isn’t going to think they have a use for immediately. What’s nice is you don’t have to use the entire volume and the pack will become small enough to be useful for many applications. The great part is should you decide to go on an overnight trip or need a...

Precision Pak Bait Holder Pack with strap

I love packs like these. Several companies make them. Precision Pak calls the model they sent me a bait holder. It’s basically a small pack that can be used with the included shoulder strap or as I used without. The pack has 2 belt slots on the back which is perfect for putting it on the strap...

Exofficio Neptune Hat

J Cambria - Wednesday, 15 June 2011
exoffio hatKayak fishing is a lot of time about making your time on the water and the elements more enjoyable - or even more tolerable as is the case with fishing in extreme conditions. I just got back from Baja and the temps were in the 100's and little breeze. I had this Exofficio Neptune Hat for a...

Coastal_Fishes

By Val Kells and Kent Carpenter

What’s that thing on the end of my line? Have you ever caught a fish and wondered what it is? I know I have caught many species that I didn’t know the name of or what they were. I was recently sent a copy of the above mentioned book for review and found it both...

Shu-Fly Custom Rod SFBS 702H

Jon Shein - Friday, 27 May 2011

SBFS_702H

As we all know in kayak fishing one can only carry so much equipment out on the water so we have to pack judiciously. Rods are always an issue. While fishing inshore some anglers carry as many as 6 but this isn’t always practical and I never carry so many. I try to carry rods that are...

New 2011 Hobie Revolution

J Cambria - Tuesday, 03 May 2011
I have been using the Hobie Revolution since 2007 and it has always been a popular fishing kayak with myself and others. I pretty much wore that kayak out so it was time for a new one and I am even more impressed with the craft as they have fixed a few of the issues, and I am not sure they were...
