Glacier Glove, Not Just Gloves

Chris Parson Glacier Glove Review Chris Parson Glacier Glove Product Review

I’ve had a chance to test some of Glacier Gloves (G.G.) newer products against the raw Cape May, NJ weather in December. G.G. has been churning out some great products. When out in the cold, wet environment, and away from the warm comforts of shelter, G.G. will prove to be among your very best gear.

Let me break down each product that I’ve tested for you below;

I tested the following 4 glove styles on various outings this fall. All performed very well and so far have held up to the abuse that I’ve put them through. For me, I prefer the neoprene style gloves in cool fall weather. Once the winter temps arrive, I’d recommend the Angler Mitt. The Mitt is ideal in the colder air as you’re not isolating your fingers as you would with a glove. This creates better airflow between the fingers and therefore is warmer. Glacier Glove has given this Mitt the best of both worlds; the dexterity of fingerless gloves for tying knots, and the warmth of the “flip over” mitten.

SUN HOOD Glacier Glove Sun Hood Balaclava

Sun Hood (Balaclava)

From GG; “50+UPF Sun Protection. The new hood design allows for multiple wear options including with a hat, chin down or full head protection. Light weight fabric breathes well and is comfortable even in high heat and humidity. Price: $19.99”

I’ve warn the Sun Hood in warm weather as well as in icy cold conditions. Fishing Kipto, Va with winds of 20+ and 28 degrees, my face and neck were warm, dry, and comfortable. I wore the Sun Hood under my baseball cap and it didn’t bunch up at all. I’m a fan of the GG Balaclava and highly recommend it!!!

Fall River HatGlacier Glove Fall River HatFall River Hat

From GG; “Windproof and Breathable. The perfect combination - Hat bill to block glare and the warm and windproof comfort of a beanie. FINALLY! Price: $16.99”

While personally I’m not a fan of the small hat bill, I have to say this hat is warm and comfortable. The fold down flap for your ears is a great feature and mine went up and down with the sun on a recent surf fishing outing. I was glad to have the Fall River Hat and for 17 bucks, it’s going to be tough to find a better hat!

From GG “The new windproof breathable Beanie wicks sweat away to keep you dry and warm. Price: $14.99”

Like the Balaclava, I give this hat my highest recommendation! JUST ORDER IT! As kayak anglers, we all know how important it is to stay dry in the cooler months under our layers of clothing and gear. If you aren’t wearing a wicking layer, you’re going to be cold. That’s the only way to put it! The North Slope Beanie keeps you warm and dry as it promises and it’s truly breathable. I wore the beanie over the balaclava and it was the perfect combo for cool and cold weather fishing!

While the Fall River Hat is about the ugliest I've worn it is also the warmest! It really is wind-proof and the bill is just large enough to keep the sun outta your eye!

However much I love some of the kayak fishing accessories you can get... I'm just not convinced by them being 'tailored' to kayaking and all that BS. North Face eTip gloves are brilliant -- Can use touch screen devices, like fish finders without taking the gloves off ;)
