Default Palm Beach offshore, going deep

09-15-09, I put in at Riviera Beach at daybreak and paddle out to the Lake Worth Inlet.

Paddling out I mark fish on the finder at 60 feet. I drop a jig and hook up 30 feet of the botttom. A cuda is the first catch of the day.

As soon as I unhook the cuda a school of bait gets busted. I make a cast with a Chug Bug and hook up as soon as the plug hits the water. A nice jack puts up a good fight.

The drift was slow, .5 mph so I make my way out to some of the deep wrecks that lay off Palm Beach. I troll as I make my way east. In 120 feet I get a hit and a bonito gives me a good fight.

I keep trolling out and get hit in 150 feet. It feels like another bonito but ends up being a skippy TUNA.

The drift was under 1 mph as I made my way to 200 feet. I set up a drift on the Andy wreck. Dropping three times, I did not get a hit. I move out to 300 feet and mark fish on the bottom. I set up a drift on another wreck and make a deep drop. Ripping the jig off the bottom I get hit. After a long run the hook pulls. I drop again and again I hook up. I have the fish 50 feet from the kayak and the hook pulls again. One more time I drop and hook up, this time a king makes it to the kayak.

The drift in 300 feet was 1.2 mph. Not bad for that deep. I am drifting in to a wreck in 220 feet. I jig as I make my way to my target. In 250 feet I get hit near the bottom. I am not sure what I have on but it put up a good fight. As the fish comes to the top I see dinner.

It is the biggers lane snapper I have hooked in a kayak. It hit the bottom hook on the jig. The Jig was a ShuLure and I put a hook on the bottom ring. I do all my jigs that way. this is what the jig looked like after a days fishing.

On the way in I get cut off by a king. I lost one plug but I was ok with it. I had dinner and a nice paddle.
