2112 Outback
I spent a couple of years in smaller lighter paddle kayaks. I got tired of having to control paddles and fish. I was one who could never see me spending the money on the higher priced Hobies. Well I used one and fell in love. The Outback is stable and does a wonderful job as my #1 fishing kayak. I added the turbo fins and large rudder and have been very impressed who a wide kayak tracks and steers. The Hobie layout is very nice and has lots of storage right at your finger tips. I have added a few things to fit my style of fishing (saltwater) but it comes well set up right from Hobie. The seat is comfortable on my back but after a few hours my butt would hurt. Hobie makes an inflatable pad but I just added a closed cell foam seat cushion. I just love being in control and fishing hands free. The Outback is not a speed demon but does move thru the water with ease and at a good speed.

I HAVE HAD MY HOBIE MIRAGE FOR 5 YEARS, TRAVELED ON IT FROM THE FLORIDA KEYS UP THE WEST COAST TO HUDSON FL. ALL OVER THE EVERGLADES. THE BEST PIECE OF FISHING EQUIPMENT I HAVE PURCHASED IN MY 70 YEARS. THE HOBIE WILL LEAVE MY HANDS FREE FOR FLY FISHING, THE SALESMAN LOOKED AT ME AND LAUGHED, I QUOTE HIM "" YOU CANNOT SIT DOWN AND FLY FISH."" BUT I AM NOW FINDING OUT THAT MANY ARE FLY FISHING FROM THE SITTING POSITION. I CAN TRAVEL FOR 8 HOURS AND NOT GET WORE OUT, NEVER HAVE A SORE MUSCLE. ON A RATING FROM 1 TO 5 I GIVE IT A 50 WITH OUT ANY RESERVATIONS. I RESEARCH FOR 6 MONTHS BEFORE I BOUGHT MY FIRST ONE, SAW A LOT OF GOOD ONES RIGGED FOR FISHING BUT SETTLED FOR THE HOBIE MIRAGE. IT TURNS OUT TO BE MY BEST CHOICE. I CAN GO WHERE ANYONE CAN GO ON ANY BOAT, BUT THEY CAN NOT GO WHERE I CAN.

Love the Hobie Outback
After several years of fishing on Ocean Kayaks I purchased a Hobie Outback. While I liked the Ocean's, there is no comparison to a Hobie Peddle Kayak for fishing. It handle the Ocean and Flats great. Most importantly, I catch alot of fish!
