I wish I could just make a living by kayak fishing all year round, but I have a wife and a daughter to look after, so I have to make do with my boring office work.
Only when I'm on vacation, I fly to my beautiful house in the Bahamas, on the island of Eleuthera and I fish as much as my muscles can take.
To me there is a lot more to this sport then just catching fish. Being so close to the water and always being at its mercy, gives the sport a total different impact.
Whenever I go out, I like to take with me my fins, goggles and spear, and to freshen up in the tropical climate, I like to dive from my kayak also. If fish isn't biting, I'm sure I'll bring back dinner, it doesn't matter if it is fish or crawfish or conch. For those who have never tasted conch, it's like they'd never had sex.
It's magical to just be out there on the ocean, all alone, with no traffic and nobody around, just marine life everywhere: tortoises, porpoises, sharks, carangidae, albatroses schools of fish etc. etc.
I just don't want anything else.
And when I see the rich people pass me by in their 72" yachts.....I think,...I am sure that they envy me and my little kayak! |
